Updated guidance for use of carbomer lubricating eye gels

The UKHSA has formally stepped down its recommendation that people with CF avoid using carbomer eye gels

The UKHSA has formally stepped down its recommendation that people with CF (and certain other groups) avoid using carbomer eye gels following the Burkholderia cepacia complex outbreak.

Following an investigation by UKHSA, their updated guidance published yesterday states that “patients can now use carbomer-containing lubricating eye products, with the exception of the recalled products.”

If you have CF and are currently using eye lubricating gel and have any questions concerning this, please speak to your CF Pharmacist – Shradha Shah (Tel 0121 424 1732).
