Creon Supply Issues

We have been advised that Creon 25 000 is currently experiencing ongoing supply issues.

Viatris who make Creon, have advised us that supplies of Creon 25,000 should be available in community pharmacies over the coming weeks. Unfortunately this is only ¼ of the usual stock so it’s possible there may be some ongoing issues.

If you are unable to obtain a supply of Creon 25 000 from you community pharmacy, we would suggest you do the following ;

1.       Try a different pharmacy as they may have a supply in stock

2.       Ask your usual pharmacy if they can obtain an alternative strength such as Creon 10,000 or an alternative brand such as Nutrizym 22. If they can, request a prescription for this alternative preparation from your GP or contact the CF dietitians who will write to your GP to request a prescription for you. Please use our conversion chart to find out how many Creon 10,000 or Nutrizym 22 capsules will replace your usual dose of Creon 25,000.

3.       If the above steps are unsuccessful, we can provide you with a small supply of Creon 25,000 from the hospital pharmacy. Please contact the CF Pharmacist or CF Dietitians who will arrange this for you.

4.     If you experience any symptoms of malabsorption such as fatty stools, abdominal pain, bloating or other bowel symptoms, with Creon 10,000 or Nutrizym 22 - contact the CF team for further advice.
