Outpatient Clinics

12th July 2021

With the easing of some national COVID-19 restrictions we are pleased to be able to offer face to face clinic appointments.

What to expect when you attend your clinic appointment

  • We have significantly reduced the number of patients that we see in a face to face clinic to allow for social distancing.  We have also introduced additional cleaning of rooms between patients.
  • You may be notified of your appointment through the new booking system DrDoctor, so look out for emails and text messages from them. A paper letter will also be sent if you are unable to open the email.  To ensure you don’t miss out on any appointments please make sure your contact details and email address are up to date with our admin team on 0121 424 1693.
  • Please bring your home spirometer device with you. We are doing a small study to examine how comparable your home spirometer device is with our hospital device. As part of this you will have the opportunity to use both your home and the hospital devices at your face to face clinic appointment. If you have not yet received a home spirometer please contact the CF physiotherapy team and we will arrange to send one to you. You are likely to be asked to go for a CXR after your appointment, if you have not had one during the last year.
  • We ask that you wear a face mask while you are inside the hospital building. Face masks will be available at the hospital entrance and all staff will be wearing the appropriate PPE when they see you.

We are still offering virtual clinic appointments as we know how beneficial these have been, however we do know that the best way to assess you is by seeing you in person. We think it is likely that we will alternate your appointments from face to face and virtual as we move forward.

If you need to book, amend or cancel your appointment please call the reception team on 0121 4241693. Remember, if you have COVID-19 symptoms please follow the national guidelines

If you are interested in monitoring your health trends between clinic visits, you may wish to sign up to CFHealthHub. CFHealthHub is a free app you can download and the content will be individualised for you by your CF clinician. CFHealthHub enables you to add your weight and spirometry measurements to view in simple, easy to understand graphs, as well as helping you track your nebuliser use, if you wish, with the use of a brand new eTrack device. If you would like more information please contact Jocelyn Choyce.

We would like to thank you for your support and understanding during the last year. We are really looking forward to seeing you all soon.
