If you are already using Freestyle Libre, you will be eligible for Freestyle Libre 2. Freestyle Libre 2 brings added advantages such as alarms and not being necessary to do a finger prick blood glucose measurement, if the sensor indicates a low reading. Please contact your diabetes nurse who will be able to arrange a prescription of Freestyle Libre 2 for you. There are clear criteria that need to be met in order to be eligible for access to flash glucose monitoring on the NHS. It cannot be prescribed by the hospital and you will need to discuss access to this system with your Diabetes Specialist Nurse or GP.
