In Remembrance

1st January 2021

It is with much sadness that we acknowledge the loss of our dear friend and esteemed colleague Lynne Gumery O’Grady.

Lynne passed away surrounded by her family on the 5th of December 2020.

Lynne, a specialist physiotherapist in CF, was instrumental in establishing our regional adult CF centre. A true force of nature, Lynne built the foundations on which our physiotherapy team stands today.

Lynne was a powerful patient advocate, decisive leader and fabulous story teller, who passionately worked to improve quality of care in CF at our centre, nationally and internationally.

Lynne was a founding member of the ACPCF, the national CF Physiotherapy group, when it was established 28 years ago and she was in part responsible for the initial UK Standards of Care for Physiotherapy in CF 2002. She was also well known in the International CF Physiotherapy Group where she participated in International standards of care and education within the European CF Community.

After leaving clinical work as a physiotherapist Lynne became Head of Clinical Programmes at the CF Trust and she steered the National peer review programme.

Lynne was awarded the Fellowship of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy in 2009 which reflected her passion and dedication to the CF community.

Lynne was compassionate and full of fun, life and laughter, she truly lit up the room.

We will always be grateful for her dedication, support and inspiration individually and as a team.

We will miss Lynne enormously

Our thoughts are with her loved ones.

The West Midlands Regional Adult CF team

When Lynne left her role at the CF Centre in 2009, our physiotherapy team gave this presentation. Lynne thought it was great and she really enjoyed hearing about all her 'Lynnisms'. We hope you enjoy it too.

Lynne's family have asked for donations in her memory to Heartlands Cystic Fibrosis Charity, if you would like to make a donation, please go via donate or alternatively via our justgiving page.
