 Dear Patient,

Re:  Car Parking Arrangements for Cystic Fibrosis In-Patients

I am writing to inform you that when you are admitted to the West Midlands Adult CF Centre at Heartlands Hospital, the arrangements for car parking are as follows on admission you and your ‘main carer' will be issued with one swipe card that will allow access into and out of the parking area.  The following points should be noted:-

You will gain access to the hospital via the ‘Yardley Green Road' entrance which is situated at the back of the hospital (opposite the main entrance site).  I enclose a map of how to locate this entrance with this letter.

On entering the hospital grounds from Yardley Green Road entrance, you will need to use your swipe card (which contains a number pertinent to you only) to gain access through the first barrier, by immediately turning left, and following the road around what is the ‘staff only' car park until you arrive at a second barrier which leads through to the main ‘visitors' car park where you should park your car.  Any cars parked in the ‘staff only' car park will receive a penalty notice.

Finally, your swipe card will also allow you access to the front doors to Ward 26, which will be useful ‘out of hours' and avoid you having to wait outside for a member of staff to let you in.

When the Administration Team issue you with a swipe card you and your ‘main carer' will need to sign for this, with agreement to return the card when it is no longer required, i.e. on discharge home.  Failure to return this swipe card will result in you not being issued another swipe card.  In the event that your card is lost or stolen, we will inform the Facilities Department who will delete card access from the hospital computer, in order to maintain security.

This arrangement has been implemented in an effort to assist with a more effective journey into and out of the hospital for our patients and their carers.  Hopefully, these measures will also assist the car parking attendants/kiosk staff who will no longer be required to consider who can and cannot be allowed free exit from the car park, therefore avoiding any conflict.

If you need any further assistance please do not hesitate to contact a member of the Administration Team.

Yours sincerely

 Elaine Chapman
