The Staff
West Midland Adult Cystic Fibrosis Centre Manager
Elaine Chapman
My role as Manager of the Adult Cystic Fibrosis Centre involves the day to day running and organisation of the UK's second largest specialist centre for adult patients with cystic fibrosis. I am responsible for the provision of an efficient administrative service, comprising secretarial, clerical and reception staff.
My role also carries responsibility for the smooth running of out-patient clinics and in-patient activity; ensuring that patients requiring admission are managed appropriately. I am also involved in setting up contracts for new patients to make sure that patients receive funding for necessary treatments and packages of care.
Due to the complexity of the disease it is widely recognised that people with CF should be cared for using a multi-disciplinary approach. CF teams in the UK include, doctors, nurse specialists, dieticians, physiotherapists, psychologists and social workers. In addition, it is recommended that these teams are supported by staff such as respiratory function technicians and ward nurses skilled in caring for people with CF.
Our team at the CF Centre is dedicated to providing the best care and treatment for our patients.
