Car Parking Arrangements for CF Patients

We know that parking at Heartlands is a major issue for many of you so we have negotiated some concessions for inpatients,  for patients attending for annual review and outpatients on oxygen therapy. We hope that these arrangements will make the journey to and from the hospital easier for patients, especially for those who are more unwell, and also for their carers.

Free car parking for CF inpatients on ward 26

When undergoing inpatient treatment on ward 26, CF patients are entitled to free car parking for themselves or their main carer/spouse.
You will get a standard letter when you are admitted to the ward. It will confirm your date of admission, your expected date of discharge and your entitlement free car parking for the duration of your stay in hospital. This should be shown to the attendant, by the pay booth, each time either you, or your carer, enter or exit in the main car park. In the event of your discharge being delayed, the date on the letter will be changed.

Free car parking for CF outpatients attending for annual review

When attending clinic for annual review, CF patients are entitled to free car-parking as they may to be here for much of the day.
Ask at the reception desk, in the outpatients clinic, for a cover letter to take to the car park office. You will need to show this it to the parking attendant, in the main car park, in order to the exit the car park without paying. Alternatively, a member of the Admin team may ring through to the parking office, to pass on your name and confirm that you are entitled to free parking.

Free car parking for CF patients on long-term 24 hour oxygen

CF patients on oxygen can use the disabled parking spaces behind Ward 26, accessed via the staff carpark entrance on Yardley Green Road.
The Admin Team will issue a ‘swipe card' to get you through the barrier. You can park in the disabled bays straight ahead or in the 6 disabled bays, to the right, by the Children's Ward. Remember to display your Blue badge to avoid getting a penalty notice. When you've parked, use your swipe card to get through the sliding doors ahead and take the lift up to Ward 26.

The Admin Team on Ward 26 will be happy to deal with any queries that you may have about parking arrangements for CF patients. If you do experience problems with parking attendants/ kiosk staff, please contact us and let us sort it out for you.
